Hi there teachers and caregivers! “What Will You Make Today?” is a short, fun poem for pre-K and Kindergarten children to listen to at home or school. The poem is about two young children who use their awesome imaginations and craft skills to make dinosaurs, rocket ships, giant cranes, waddling ducks and much more!
Use the poem as inspiration for your own making projects – I’d love to see your creations!
You have full permission to use the poem for teaching purposes within any educational setting, including online learning and homeschool. Watch a video of the “What Will You Make Today?” poem below, featuring art by the wonderful illustrator Farida Zaman.
On Monday I made a rocket ship
And flew it into space
On Tuesday I made a dinosaur
With a tail and bright blue face
On Wednesday I made a fire truck
And drove it down the street
On Thursday I made a unicorn
With a horn and four green feet
On Friday I made a giant crane
And rolled it up the hill
On Saturday I made a waddling duck
With a neck and yellow bill
On Sunday I made a racing car
And zoomed it round the track
And today we made a picture book
With our photos on the back
And you – What will you make today?
